CROP Walk sponsored by the Fullerton Interfaith Ministerial Association
April 26th, 2009 2010 Date TBA
The 27th Annual Greater Fullerton Area CROP Hunger Walk through the streets of Fullerton raised almost $60,000 this year with the help of its, approximately, 400 walkers. This money will go toward furthering community awareness about the growing hunger needs in our own local community and the world. The CROP Walk was the first nation-wide walk to raise funds for charitable causes, beginning in 1968, and is now held in more than 2,000 communities around the country. It is a primary fund raising effort of Church World Service (CWS), supported by 36 different denominations and partnering with organizations all over the world to carry out community development, refugee resettlement, AIDS education and treatment, and hunger work in local U.S. communities. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised go directly back to Fullerton and the remaining seventy-five percent benefits the global hunger-fighting efforts of Church World Service. CROP Walks help to provide tools of hope that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools to wells and water systems to nutrition-enhancing Moringa trees to technical training and microenterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths, and their needs, something CWS has learned through 58 years of working in partnership around the world. Within the U.S.A., CWS assists communities in responding to disasters, resettles refugees, promotes fair national and international policies, provides educational resources, and offers opportunities to join a people-to-people network of local and global caring. Visit www.churchworldservice.org and www.cropwalk.org to learn more about this and other CROP Walks.

The Fullerton Collaborative presents the 7th Annual FACES of Fullerton event.
April 25th, 2009 2010 Date TBA

Each year this FREE community event brings the residents of Fullerton together to experience the diverse community that we all share. The event is held at the Downtown Plaza, on Wilshire Avenue, and attendees are invited to participate in a variety of activities designed to be creative, interactive and intergenerational. The intent of this event each year is to build connections and communication among the business, community agencies and organizations, religious organizations, neighborhoods, cultural groups, and individual citizens of Fullerton. FIES has participated in this community event for the past number of years and will continue to be involved with information on our programs and how we are striving to help rebuild the lives of the hungry and homeless.
